As a former restaurant owner, I was the creator of whimsical, polished restaurant experiences. I’m an experienced designer of commercial kitchens — specializing in plan-review application and health code regulations, but my secret super-power is fun and functional interiors. A gem of a night spot specializing in laid back, good vibes. Cozy seating nooks were made for canoodling while records spin.
A whimsical, family-friendly and fun two-story restaurant. Some of the elements that make this space so special include a custom wallpaper mural by Bien-Fait Paris that spans the dining areas of both floors, lots of large scale photographs and prints (heavy on funky little rabbits), custom designed communal dining tables by Farmhaus Modern and hand painted signage by Icy Signs/ESPO. A bright, light and airy vibe on the second floor during the day gives way to a dim candle lit experience at night that stays true to it's fast, loose, fun mission.
Sexy and candle lit, this 100 seat restaurant was transformed into a 'granny-chic' little haven of a space. Walls covered in vintage drawings, photos and vintage-inspired modern art prints. Nathalie Lété's Rabbit & Mushroom wallpaper is paired with antique filament bulbs. Exposed brick, custom wood tables by Farmhaus Modern and ladder back kitchen chairs add a touch of rustic to the space.
Custom marquee lights announce what matters at this urban and intimate space. Walls covered in quirky art prints and original commissioned paintings and a colossal chevron wall mural on the second floor add to a sense of fun.
A poured and stained concrete floor adds a touch of warmth to a space filled with reclaimed elements. Vintage sign letters and salvaged wood slats make the cold beverage display area a unique focal point and the counters come from a single wood source, left intentionally rough and paired with industrial seating. Local and independent artists cover the walls.
Described by the New York Times as “pure Philly summertime” the year it opened, this former lot was transformed into a low key, outdoor warm weather respite, presided over by it’s own custom painted truck.
Designed to invite in the gardens across the street from it’s wide accordian windows, this sun drenched space was an intimate and gently vintage place to linger at a cafe table over drinks.
After extensive excavation that included peeling back the decades, salvageable elements, including old doors doors, cracked tin ceilings and an fire door were retained as focal points. Bare filament bulbs create a warm glow at the zinc bar. Antique amber glass pendants in the small dining room and a reclaimed double door at the entrance complete the comfortable, 'lived in' vibe.
A prohibition era bar reenergized to restore it’s personality as an old Philadelphia neighborhood bastion.
